Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Using This "Internet" Thing To Prepare For The Maize And Blue

Just a few things to get everyone ready for Michigan this Saturday...

First off, SBN's own Maize N' Brew has some great stuff up, including a list of things Michigan fans know and don't know about their team (a lot of it looks sadly familiar) and his stream of consciousness from the game against Oregon.  My favorite comment from the latter is "This is officially the wrst michigan team in hstry.  Fire english now. Seriously. Rt now"  (The entire piece is thumbed in on a Treo during the game).  Dave and I will be trading "Reasons Our Team Will Win" before the end of the week, although I'm sure they'll mostly be laced with sarcasm and sad, mournful sorrow.

Of course, before we move on to Michigan, we need to learn from the mistakes of the past.  Michael Rothstein breaks down the film, and so does Irish Eyes to an absurd degree.   The latter points out Weis actually had in a few more deep routes, we just didn't get to them for various reasons (Paul Duncan, Sam Young, everyone else on the offensive line plus tight ends and backers that are supposed to help not get the QB killed...).  The Rock Report writes about how we knew this sucktitude was coming, and just need to weather the storm.  Even when there's a 99% chance it's going to rain on your parade, you still hope the meteorologist is wrong.

Sunday Morning QB makes fun of Charlie's now in-question genius, while his readers find a perfect name for Saturday's contest: Cripple Fight 2007.  Deadspin also gets in on the action, comparing battle of winless Notre Dame and Michigan to battle of undefeated Washington and Ohio State.  I thought coming into this season the Buckeyes had a chance to get upset, but that was before the Huskies started the season with two straight wins.  Odds are that the flaming collapse of bubble screens and punts from inside the red zone happens sooner than later, but it could still be an interesting game.

And finally, MZone does what they do best:

I should have time to sit down and watch Mallett's second half against Michigan, so expect that sometime tonight or tomorrow morning.  It's hard to concentrate on him with Dennis Dixon evolving into Vince Young on the same DVR, but I suppose playing Michigan's defense with a mobile quarterback will do that to you.
