Around SBN: Off Tackle Empire interviews Rich Rodriguez

With eight days until kickoff, Weis has his man

I think I might put together a GoogleMap of campus and all of the places I've used the internet there the past couple of days.  The creepy person actually using the computer at Reckers?  This guy.  In all seriousness, if you have any connection with Comcast and can get Rob and I wired up before September 5th, eternal gratitude will be a severe understatement.

Last night after practice, Weis decided to make things interesting with the media (and fans) by annoucing he's chosen his quarterback, then sticking out his tongue and going "Na na na na, I'm not telling".  His reasoning makes sense, because there's really no reason for people outside the program to know at this time other than curiousity, while there can perhaps be some advantage gleaned by the Tenuta-Gailey braintrust not knowing who their target is on September 1st.  If I was running Tech's practices, I would still prepare for all three signal-callers even if Weis did announce a starter.  When you combine the inexperience of all three candidates with the presence of Philip Wheeler, it's quite possible we see more than one QB against the Jackets.

A few links going away from the big boys, as I expected to hate Bomani Jones' 100 reasons to love college football this season, but it was actually a pretty entertaining and informative piece.  Over at SI, they're starting a pointess NFL vs. college debate, and since college has Stewart Mandel as its defender, you get a mixed bag.

Only eight days remain.  Hopefully we manage to get this kind of pressure on Taylor Bennett.

Update [2007-8-24 15:2:41 by CW]: Rob and I really should coordinate our posting a little better. He does a much better job looking at the quarterback situation, and Weis' art of rocking a press conference, right here.
