Fresh off the press (2/16)

CW is back in town for some Junior Parent Weekend action!  There likely won't be many updates this weekend (if any), but we'll probably be forced to make a comment on the ND-Cincinnati game (gulp, it's on the road).  Lou Holtz is the guest speaker for the closing brunch and this guy couldn't be any more excited.  Hopefully we aren't in the first row.  I don't want to have to bring my raincoat.  Here's some news for you on this glorious Friday afternoon:

As I sat in my exam last night, I received the following texts from CW:

7:20 20-10 them.  We blow

7:47 42-38 them.  Falls carried us late

9:00 81-78 us.  Booyah

Again, since I didn't actually witness the game, I have little to add.  Falls, Carter, and Kurz all came through when it counted.  Falls hit some big shots at the end of the first half and Carter came alive in the second half.  This was a huge win for the Irish, as I don't see us winning 4 straight to close the season.  Our next game in on Sunday at Cincinnatti, who is absolutely dreadful this season.  But then again with our road woes, who knows what will happen.  I'm sure it will be interesting for sure.

The combine is coming up and the word on the street is that this is a make it or break it event for Brady Quinn.  "The guy has millions on the line, and if he comes into Indy and lights it up, he wins," one NFL GM commented to NFL.com's Pat Kirwan.  Quinn has been slipping lately in some mock drafts, thanks in part to the over-analyzing the media and scouts have done on his game.  I'm not sure he's a #1 pick, but he'd sure as hell be a better option than some of the teams have on their roster right now (cough, Cleveland, cough).

Michigan just released their schedule next year.  Besides that important game on 9/15, a quick look at their schedule will show you that they are playing Appalachian State.  Good God.  And people complain about us playing the service academies?  I'd say the one year line-up of Navy, Army and Air Force far outweigh Michigan's doozie of a schedule with the likes of Appalachian State, Eastern Michigan, and Illinois.  Heh.  Illinois...

That's all folks!  Have a good weekend.
