I want to go headbutt something
Despite the fact that we're 1-9 (like anyone is counting anyways), you've got to love this:
COACH WEIS: I think the last week might have been -- well, you might even put it the last four weeks after -- the last four games after the bye for some of these guys getting to that point because once you get to the point where you're clear through the bye, you're moving to the second part of the season, I think the younger guys are trying to put themselves in a position to step up, and I think that there will be guys who will probably send us a message here in the next couple weeks of which direction they intend to go.
Not getting into one player, but it was probably one of the most enjoyable parts of my entire week, happened yesterday morning at 5:30. Yesterday morning at 5:30 I'm sitting in my office and I keep the door locked because I don't like just anyone walking in at 5:30, and my phone rings and one of the players on our team is outside. I said, oh, no, here we go again. He wants to talk to me so he knocks on my door. I thought we had another person that was looking to pack his bags and go.
And it was just the opposite. He said he hasn't slept all night. He's an underclassman. He hadn't slept all night and he felt he needed to step up and take on more of a leadership role, and he was asking for some advice on how to do that. I mean, that's the type of guys you want on your team, guys that aren't sleeping because they're worrying about how they can -- he's a regular player, but how they can step up and take on more of a leadership role. I thought that was a good way to start the week.
Edit: It was the polar bear

are you qualified to be football coaches?
- we know that we are not and you have given us not indication that you are.
- therefore, we will leave the coaching and the recruiting up to charlie, corwin, and the professionals on their staffs. we will remain loyal and supportive of them and notre dame.
- after all, they have already performed many miracles on the playing field for notre dame in 2005 and 2006 and miracles on the recruiting trail for notre dame in 2006, 2007, and 2008, despite the terrible paper record on the field in 2007 and the vicious attacks from notre dame's enemies on the outside and the small number of traitors within.
- you could go down as the class that killed notre dame football.
- we hope that you will enlighten yourselves with the fine article by chris hine of the observer of 11/9/2007 entitled" football commentary: " weis'career is still more than just this year" and start supporting and helping the coaches and players at notre dame, instead of tanking and bashing the nd coaches and players.
- what did you expect then to do? if they could have done so, they would have gone back in time time to rerecuit those 2004 and 2005 recruiting classes, they would have done so.
- why should zibby go out and put his life on the line to play for you when he turned down a very large boxing contract to come back to notre dame?
- of course, any football program needs consecu tive to 10 recruiting classes to contend seriously for nastional championships. when the 2008 recruiting class arrives at notre dame ,charlie and corwin and their staffs will have brought in 3 . while 4 in a row are usually necessary.they just might be able to domit with 3.
8no other coaching staff at notre dame or at any other school has been able to bring in and hold together a norecruiting class in the nation in the face of such adversity and a terrible year on the field like 2007. they have done all of this with honesty and integrity and without compromising notre dame's high academic and character standards.
- you have chosen to name your site after a famous irish song. your content rarely measures up to any of the things for which that song stands.
- you are intelligent guys. if you need to adjustyour perspectiveto reality, read chris hines'article and be proud that, during you senior years, you remained loyal to the notre dame coaches and to every member of the 2007 team.
- in doing so, you will have played a role in keeping together notre dame's no 1 2008 recruiting class and for the national champioships that will follow.
we wish you the best in making the right choice,

bob. you're insane
i'm gonna comment on lines 8, the second 6, the second 8, the first 9, and 10.
8. why should zibby go out and "put his life on the line"? 1) don't be overly dramatic. 2) pride, zibby should be playing for pride, self-respect and maybe so someone will draft him next year
the second 6. look at Kansas's and Oregon's recruiting numbers for the past couple of years.
the second 8. it's yet to be seen how well this recruiting class will hold up. i'm hoping that these recruits will stick with Notre Dame, but there's a lot of time left and they are young kids with plenty of time to make a stupid mistake still.
the first 9. read the lyrics of "the rakes of mallow" and you'll see that the worse these guys write, the more in line with the song they are.
10. if you want to support chris hine, pretend like you don't like him because the backing of blindly supportive, insane notre dame fans like you can certainly be of no help to this young man and his career.
i bet you're a republican

Bob. . .
Getting that out of the way, someone needs to throw Young a nice, juicy penguin for this meeting. Great to hear.
