"College Gameday" Tends to Flip-Flop
* Loved: Green jerseys to honor the senior class. That would be a cool tradition to have, after next year, when only a handful of seniors will actually be seeing the field. Also loved the freshmen starting up a "Go Irish, Beat Trojans" chant in the aftermath of the game. Booyah.
Hated: Having Brady in up thirty and throwing. Bobby Ross calling all three timeouts in the last minutes down by 38 points. There's something to not giving up, there's something to being absolutely ridiculous.
* Louisville vs. West Virginia: Bunch of points scored, they're crappy teams.
Ohio State vs. Michigan: Bunch of points scored, they're the best.
(They probably are, but still, I love how completely subjective pundits can be, twisting the numbers any which way they like.)
* It's quite possible that Michigan and Ohio State are the two best teams in the country, but I about threw something at the television with Kirk telling me that Michigan would soundly beat Florida or Arkansas if they played next weekend. Really, Kirk? Yeah, I'm pretty sure they'd win, too, but here are just a couple of examples that jump into my mind of the pundits being really, really sure about something:
- Ohio State vs. Miami (FL)
- Southern "Best Team In History" Cal vs.Texas
- West "No Chance in Hell" Virginia vs. Georgia
* Darren McFadden quarterbacking isn't really fair. Darren McFadden returning kick-offs? Probably should be illegal.
* SOUTHERN CAL SOUTHERN CAL SOUTHERN CAL SOUTHERN CAL SOUTHERN CAL.
* I'm going to be bummed out if West Virginia doesn't make a BCS bowl. I think they'd give nearly everyone in the country fits with that speed, so here's hoping Tyler Palko does some damage Saturday against the Cardinals.
* As brought up by Craig James and bloggers in the previous weeks, so let's say Michigan gets a rematch and wins: Are they the consensus national champions for splitting the season series, is it a split national title or do we play another one?
* I realize Troy Smith did everything on his own against Michigan and deserves the Heisman already and everything, as he was lead blocker on both of Pittman and Wells' monster runs and didn't fumble it to let the Wolverines back into the game. If Darren McFadden runs through LSU and Florida or Brady drops 5 TD's on a great Southern Cal defense, shouldn't we consider them?
(No? That's fine.)
* I enjoy this way more than I should. Economic-type stuff used for social good yet again.
* If one more Penn State blogger writes about how Penn State is winning the national title next year, I hope they include the quarterback that will be leading them there, because Anthony Morelli is not that guy.
And just to get you in the mood of loathing Southern Cal, we'll start here.
