Once More, With Feeling: One-Legged Jimmy Clausen and Irish Pull Out Win At Purdue

It's never easy, and sometimes it ain't pretty, but a fourth and goal pass to Kyle Rudolph gave Notre Dame the win at West Lafayette Saturday night.  Without their top receiver, top running back and top quarterback (for part of the night), the Irish gritted out a win against a very game Boilermaker team.

There are a multitude of issues to address before The Hurt Locker comes to town Saturday, but a win is a win is a win.

A win is a win is a win...

…and even more exciting to do it going back to Purdue and winning one in the closing seconds. It can’t always be a pretty one, but I had a blast watching Jimmy C come back and take the offense down the field for a great game-winning drive.

Get the team healthy and work with the secondary this week, and it should be another great game in SB next week. Go Irish!

Issues

How about showing up for the third quarter?? Granted, Jimmy wasn’t in the game, but they just couldn’t move the ball. This game and the Michigan game, a strong third quarter makes for an easy win. They squeaked this one out, and we know what happen in Ann Arbor.

Purdue only beats shitty ND teams

see: 1997 (7-6), 1999 (5-7), 2003 (5-7), 2004 (6-6), 2007 (3-9).

this is a semi-above-average team (8 wins?). that’s why i was confident, even with the JV offense.
