And So It Begins

The quest for the 2009 NCAA Division I Championship begins tonight! Though Notre Dame's game isn't until tomorrow. I know that many in our community are perhaps new to the sport, and certainly new to the hockey postseason process.

I found a great blog entry on Yahoo written by the "Puckdaddy," who is the Yahoo Sports hockey guy. It's a very informative read, especially if you have no idea who's playing in the tournament, who are the players to watch, and so forth. It's pretty funny as well.

Here's the link: FAQ: How to jump on the NCAA men's ice hockey tournament bandwagon without looking like a total moron

And here's the excerpt about Notre Dame (Not to be confused with UND - University of North Dakota!) :

Q. Oh, great ... so now Notre Dame's dominating college hockey?

'Fraid so. They beat Michigan in the CCHA tournament title game, with Notre Dame senior goaltender Jordan Pearce named tournament MVP. Their coach, Jeff Jackson, gets mad props.

"He is the best. It isn't easy for me to say that, because I would normally hate Notre Dame in everything else that they do, but I love their coach," said Wodon. "Knowing how he is, seeing how his teams play and behave themselves ... you put a guy that with the resources Notre Dame has, and they're going to be a powerhouse forever, as long as he's there."

I'll have my own preview of the tournament later this afternoon.
