David Bruton Runs Fast, Jumps High
At Tuesday's safety workouts at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis ("Hey, college stand-outs! Come to Indy in February!"), former Notre Dame star, young father and season-saving-fumble-against-San-Diego-State-even-though-the-ball-might-actually-have-already-crossed-the-line-and-or-the-runner's-knee-was-down creator David Bruton made some Draft noise for himself by turning in some great measurements.
Bruton was second among safeties in the 40 and first in the Vertical Jump, Broad Jump, 3-Cone Drill and 60 yard shuffle. NFL.com has a full list of top performers.
Weis said during the season the Combine would be a place where Bruton could show off his freakish athleticism, and the man did not disappoint. Draft buzz around Bruton was 5th or 6th round, but with a perfomance like this perhaps Bruton has improved his stock to 3rd or 4th round potential. Regardless, congratulations are in order to an outstanding representative of Notre Dame on and off the field.
Here are Bruton's numbers:
| DRILL | MEASUREMENT | POS. RANKING (OVERALL) |
| 40-Yard Dash | 4.46 seconds | 2nd (T 17th) |
|
Vertical Jump |
41.5 inches | 1st (T 4th) |
| Broad Jump | 11 feet, 0 inches | 1st (3rd) |
| 3-cone Drill | 6.60 seconds | T 1st (T 2nd) |
| 60-Yard Shuttle | 10.96 seconds |
1st (T 2nd) |

my only problem is
that he might not be as solid a tackler as some other S in the draft. I’d like either him or Ellison come to the Raiders (favorite NFL team)
And Mason said to god, "May my clutch shots go in" And God said, "Yes. Yes they may my son"
