Jack asked a group of football players to help him

they were Armando, Dayne, Floyd, KLM, Zach Martin, Rudy, Brian Smith, Chris Stewart and Manti

Jack looked for 3 things

1) Developing a set of criteria before looking at any candidates.
2) Set up a timeline with a goal of announcing a coach by this weekend.
3) Absolute confidentiality. Claims that there never was a leak until the story began to break yesterday.

Jack: Interest in coaching at ND was "extraordinary".

“Many of the best coaches in the country were interested in being a part of our program”

I like listening to Kelly much more than Weis.

Something about his demeanor is great.

Rakes went down for a while here's what happened.

Hamilton: What translates between jobs?
Kelly: Passion.

Hamilton: What about defense?
Kelly: Can’t just be an offensive coordinator.

Q: What about Mardy Gillyard
K: I handled myself honestly and with integrity. He’s grateful to the Cincy players. Wishes them the best.

Q: How did the team meeting go?
A: They want to win. You don’t come to ND to be average.

Q: Will Chuck Martin be coming?
A: Kelly makes jokes. They don’t work. Blames media.

Q: Timeline for assembling staff
A: Plan in place. Wants to talk to everyone involved before any announcements.

Matt's last notes - sorry SBNation was down.

A: He thought the reception area was the office.

Q: How do you start on recruiting?
A: Get calling all the commits. Already started. He’s already started.

A: Wants to reach out to Weis, Willingham, Holtz, Davie

Big on player development again.

Wants to get aggressive on offense.

Recruiting is relationship driven. Nice
