St. Michael sighting

on first down!! that;s what i’m talkin about.

by NumberSeven on Nov 7, 2009 2:48 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I think we’re going to lose the ball here.

by long time listener on Nov 7, 2009 2:52 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

awesome way to start a game...

Parish has been getting killed lately too

by averagegatsby on Nov 7, 2009 2:53 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

That was retarded

Why wouldn’t you just go for it. Im glad they wasted a TO, but I would have just quick snapped it and ran it off guard.

by averagegatsby on Nov 7, 2009 3:00 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

agreed

I’m not a big fan of trying to draw them offsides – it just doesn’t seem to work that often. If you have a run offense like Navy – and especially if you’re a huge underdog like Navy – just run your best short-yardage play and try to win the game.

by long time listener on Nov 7, 2009 3:02 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

and then that happened.

I am getting a bad feeling about this game, im sure Im gonna need to keep the Rolaids near by.

by averagegatsby on Nov 7, 2009 3:04 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I think Navy will give us trouble early, but I think we’ll pull away in the second half. Stopping them on the goal line here would be huge, obviously. As would not turning the ball over anymore.

by long time listener on Nov 7, 2009 3:06 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Navy apparently hates Time Outs

and that was a textbook example on how to shoot a gap.

This space for rent.

by averagegatsby on Nov 7, 2009 3:08 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

do they think they get 3 more in the second half?

I guess if you’re going to use 2 timeouts on one drive, you better get a TD out of it.

by long time listener on Nov 7, 2009 3:09 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

*second QUARTER

Obviously, they get 3 more in the second half.

by long time listener on Nov 7, 2009 3:10 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

if they could...

they’d use their second half time outs in the first quarter too..

by NumberSeven on Nov 7, 2009 3:10 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I was thinking...

that it would be a neat rule if you were given all 6 time outs to start the game… But only 3 carried over. More than likely it wouldn’t change much since rarely are all 3 timeouts used in a first half.

Floyd looks good again

I’m still sick thinking about what might have been if he was healthy for the USC game.

by long time listener on Nov 7, 2009 3:15 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I dont get running the "wildcat"

vs a defense that plays against an option offense every day

This space for rent.

by averagegatsby on Nov 7, 2009 3:16 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

i don't get

running a six-yard route on 3 & 8.

by NumberSeven on Nov 7, 2009 3:16 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I don't get it at all when you have a QB like Clausen

The wildcat makes sense when you don’t have a great QB and you want to get the ball into the hands of your best players as much as possible. But Clausen is their best offensive player, and the offense works best when he’s getting the ball to Tate, Floyd, etc.

by long time listener on Nov 7, 2009 3:20 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

not only that...

but the last team in the country thats going to get fooled by an option offense is Navy…

And awesome discipline on covering the pitch..

obvious statement

We need a TD on this drive. Can’t get inside the 10 and come away with 3 in this situation.

by long time listener on Nov 7, 2009 3:36 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

terrible play call on 1st down

Why pitch it wide to a defense that’s strength is its quickness? Why not pound it up the middle 4 times?

the nightmare begins

i hate this game

have youheard navy tries hard?

this is the dirtiest team on the schedule, that cheap shot on blanton was worse than what spikes did… a dive at a guys knees 50 yards from the ball

by Will McDonald on Nov 7, 2009 4:25 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

the paris fumble killed us

why he started I have no idea

by Will McDonald on Nov 7, 2009 4:26 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I keep wanting to say that not having Armando

is killing us, but really is there an excuse to be scoreless against this team?

by averagegatsby on Nov 7, 2009 4:28 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

nope

their offense is always silid… but we should be able to go up and down the field on this D.

how is he getting this many yards?

by averagegatsby on Nov 7, 2009 4:33 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I think they wanted the 5 yards for cushion...

which still didn’t prevent the touchback

1st and goal at the 1

Let’s see how they blow this.

by long time listener on Nov 7, 2009 4:50 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

This game keeps getting better...

Navy gets their first passing touchdown in like 7 years, and now Randolph looks to be done.

At least they didn’t get that fumble.

This space for rent.

by averagegatsby on Nov 7, 2009 5:08 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

yeah

not good news

by NumberSeven on Nov 7, 2009 5:09 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Also...

not that I ever root for injuries… But with the way Navy’s offense is set up, if any one of those guys got hurt, I think they could just plug in the next guy and do fine. Because its not like their guys are breaking tackles, they are just running through enormous holes caused by deception.

it's like we just keep having

to hope for a broken play.. that seems to be the only time they get stopped.

by NumberSeven on Nov 7, 2009 5:22 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

game over

And a late hit on Clausen. If you’re going to throw a game-clinching INT, might as well get your money’s worth.

by long time listener on Nov 7, 2009 5:27 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

looked like

Floyd was run blocking on that play. Somebody was running the wrong play… WTF.

by NumberSeven on Nov 7, 2009 5:30 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

That noise you just heard?

Yeah, it was the sound of NDs BCS hopes as well as Jimmy’s and Golden’s heisman/maxwell, et all, chances blowing up.

I dont think you can blame this loss

(assuming that we do lose) on Weis. Its hard to beat a team who plays pretty much flawlessly. This game has been absolutely ridiculous though.

Im out, gonna go to my BBQ, hopefully I get back with some good news.

No way Charlie can escape losing consecutive home games to Navy.

by Grant E. on Nov 7, 2009 6:37 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Utterly pathetic.

This team was completely unprepared to play today. That is on Weis. No questions.

Turnovers are what did us in...

you can’t turn the ball over against a team that doesn’t make mistakes, few penalties… No Turnovers.

Failure to score TDs in the red zone

did ND in, despite a decided advantage in size and talent, and of course, the decided schematic advantage Weis brings ND.

Fair enough...

but turnovers played a big part, especially with one of them (or was it two of them) coming in the red zone… hell at the goal line.

Having said that, I still think its Charlie’s arrogance that will do him in.

Cya later Charlie...

Alright let’s start the convo… who’s our next head coach?

by SuperNewb on Nov 7, 2009 6:16 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I want Brian Kelly from Cincinnati.

by SuperNewb on Nov 7, 2009 6:28 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

You may not be good enough for Brian Kelly

He’s looking at Michigan because Rich Rod is toast there.

by StoopsMyAss on Nov 7, 2009 7:56 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Which is ridiculous...

Rich Rod was left with absolutely nothing, and he has only had 2 recruiting classes to completely make over that team to his spread style. Michigan getting rid of him now would be a waste. Maybe he isn’t the right guy, but he deserves a third year.

This space for rent.

by averagegatsby on Nov 7, 2009 8:03 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Do you read the paper?

the guy who hired him is gone and Dick Rod has serious baggage. And MIch does not do Baggage. He might be gone. I would say it is 50/50 if Kelly is willing to leave.

The only victory he has had in two years is….ND

"I think it's safe to say our concerns are many." -- Kirk Ferentz

by StoopsMyAss on Nov 8, 2009 12:12 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

whats a paper?

Im not saying its not possible, Im just saying its ridiculous to not give him one more year. He has one more “big win” in 2 years than Weis does. Dont get me wrong, I would love to see Rich Rod somewhere other than Michigan because I think he is a good coach, but to fire him because he cant win with a bunch of nobody’s who dont fit his system isn’t fair.
