Season Finale: Fighting Irish at Cardinal All Day Open Thread

Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Stanford Cardinal, Nov 28, 2009 8:00 PM EST

Dismissing the possibilities of bowl games, this could be the last Notre Dame game for Charlie Weis, Jimmy Clausen, Golden Tate, Kyle McCarthy and Eric Olsen, among so many more.  If Toby Gerhart wants the Heisman, he's going to have to do a number on the Irish defense and hope for some help from Nebraska.  Let's attempt to send Weis and company out with a win against a very formidable Stanford squad.

The Border War has been fantastic...

and even though I hate Mizzou I must say those Black on Black helmets are pretty bad ass.

Be careful what you wish for...

it can always get worse… Having said that, I kinda agree.

If recent history is any guide, next year will be our 9-3 bounce-back year. Followed by a slow slide to mediocrity (if we’re lucky). I love pessimism.

So the next guy will be a good coach but terrible recruiter?

So the new guy comes in… Dominates with Charlies guys, they all leave after just missing a BCS bowl game then get massacred in the Gator Bowl by Virginia Tech… WOOO WHOO!!!

nice start

What are the odds Stanford doesn’t score a TD after starting almost at mid-field?

and by 7.3%

I mean 73%

There are so many things about this year that are so revealing about years past...

Remember when a couple of years ago we went into Georgia Tech, and Tenuta’s blitzes dominated us… Now he comes here, and his blitzes are just miserable and ineffective. Shows how poorly coached this team is, and has been.

sweet fancy moses

He wasn’t even stripped! The ball just popped out of his hand!

So Weis has been told not to stick around and recruit while in California...

What are the chances Swarbrick sticks around to talk to Harbaugh while he is there.

Off topic...

I visited a friend in Palo Alto last year, and went to the big sports bar that was there, and there was more Notre Dame stuff in the bar than Stanford stuff. And I dont remember seeing any Elway stuff at all.

Also I walked around the campus when I was there, and I saw Standford students playing beer pong with 5 gallon Home Depot buckets, and a mini soccer ball.

nice play by Claussen on 3rd and long

We’re going to miss that guy when he’s gone. As in, next year.

another great play by Claussen

and Floyd. At least they’re going down fighting.

nothing's definite yet

It just seems unlikely that he’s going to want to come back to learn a new system, endure a “rebuilding year,” and risk injury. Especially when it’s not clear that his draft stock would go much higher after another year.

Oh I agree...

Mussburger made it sound like he had already declared.

on what level of sad I am.
