That will never happen
ND doesn’t send anyone to the offensive glass. They rely solely on their shooting to win games. They don’t rebound, they don’t defend, and Brey has no confidence in his bench. Not even half way through the conference schedule and McAlarney is spent.

Did you watch the game?
The problem wasn’t that we rely “solely” on shooting to win games, the problem was that we had an awful night shooting (and I defy you to identify any team that regularly wins games shooting 30% from the field). The defense was actually very solid, as we held UConn to 40% from the field and 33% from three.

The team missed a lot of shots they usually make – how many trickled in and out? I also don’t know how many lay-ups you’re supposed to get against a team that’s led the country in blocks for most of this decade. Defense wasn’t great, but it was certainly good enough to win. Just like football season, defense played well, but the offense (roleplayers this time) didn’t do enough for the victory.
