Gametime! ND @ Louisville Gameday Thread

Hey all.  We're going to try to revert back to our oldselves and post a gameday thread for the rest of the season.  We'll do our best to post it and add to the discussion, and you guys do your best to add to it and show how nuts we are after Luke Zeller opens up the night 0-3 from behind the arc.  Without further ado...

Notre Dame Fightin' Irish at Louisville Cardinals

Monday, January 12th, 2008 - 7:00 PM (EST)

Freedom  Hall - Louisville, Kentucky - ESPN

UND.com Preview

I don't know what to make of this game, but I think we have some momentum against a very talented team that has slightly underperformed so far in the season.  If this game was in the JACC (like it is later on in the season), I'd be much more confident.  The fact that Notre Dame has not won at Freedom Hall in our lifetime (1980 to be exact) gives us some pause for concern.  Should be a good game.  GO IRISH!!!

Luke looks focused

Louisville is an extremely talented team, but they don’t shoot that well and make big mistakes that will keep us in the game.

by Rob on Jan 12, 2009 7:14 PM EST reply actions

Luke shouldn’t be inbounding

I don’t know if we can keep up with the game. Especially with Brey’s substitution patterns.

by Rob on Jan 12, 2009 7:21 PM EST reply actions

j peep in early. thank god for ayers.

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 7:21 PM EST reply actions

I bet Louisville fans are wondering why Luke H. is so lucky.

But he does this consistently.

by Rob on Jan 12, 2009 7:26 PM EST reply actions

lol

Last year Yes, this year we knew it was coming. He’s a beast.

I Promise You One Thing. A Lot Of Good Will Come Outta This.
You Will Never See Anyone Type On The Message Boards As Much As I Will For The Rest of This Season .
You Will Never See Anyone Push and Root For His Team As Hard As I Will For The Rest of This Season.
And You Will Never See Another Team Fight Tougher and Harder Than Louisville Will In the Big East For The Rest of This Season.
God Bless.

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 7:29 PM EST reply actions

And you wonder why Brey doesn’t go to the bench that often… C’mon Peoples!

by Rob on Jan 12, 2009 7:33 PM EST reply actions

we need to take care of the ball, especially out of timeouts.

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 7:33 PM EST reply actions

Ask and you shall recieve

by Gleason on Jan 12, 2009 7:34 PM EST reply actions

I said MacAlarney needed to show up

by Gleason on Jan 12, 2009 7:34 PM EST reply actions

Oh my God, Zeller.

by Rob on Jan 12, 2009 7:37 PM EST reply actions

luke zeller is flying around. it’s not totally effective, but i like it.

we’re also turning the ball over like fiends

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 7:37 PM EST reply actions

I don’t blame us for some of these missed rebounds. They’re missing terribly.

by Rob on Jan 12, 2009 7:44 PM EST reply actions

for sure. they can’t hit from outside

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 7:45 PM EST up reply actions

I think we win for sure if we can hold on to the ball and handle the press.

by Gleason on Jan 12, 2009 7:49 PM EST reply actions

Digger Phelps is senile

by Gleason on Jan 12, 2009 7:52 PM EST reply actions

I see him at the ND bookstore about once a week.

by Gleason on Jan 12, 2009 7:53 PM EST reply actions

He’s probably trying to convince someone to buy his book

by Gleason on Jan 12, 2009 7:53 PM EST reply actions

i’ll buy it for half off

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 7:55 PM EST reply actions

great start! tough call on hillesland

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 8:03 PM EST reply actions

Wow, McAlarney. He is going off tonight!

by Rob on Jan 12, 2009 8:07 PM EST reply actions

so glad we’ve got rafferty for this game

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 8:07 PM EST reply actions

ayers loves to shoot here

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 8:09 PM EST reply actions

glad to see hillesland getting involved

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 8:10 PM EST reply actions

time to give j-peep a rest

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 8:15 PM EST reply actions

This is where it could get ugly if we don’t connect.

by Rob on Jan 12, 2009 8:15 PM EST reply actions

ghost screen by gody on the macalarney play. gotta make contact

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 8:16 PM EST reply actions

we could be getting tired. this is where we miss kurz.

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 8:18 PM EST reply actions

ugh. this could grow ugly unless we make a shot.

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 8:20 PM EST reply actions

six straight for ND. 63-64.

rafferty just said that k-mac has the “brad pitt look and an attractive release”

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 8:26 PM EST reply actions

This is a really great game so far.

by Rob on Jan 12, 2009 8:28 PM EST reply actions

good work by tory. just foul the shit out of the guy because if he gets it he was gonna score

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 8:31 PM EST reply actions

i wish luke would set up one step backwards because these long twos could just as easily be 3’s

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 8:33 PM EST reply actions

what a battle between gody and samuels! this is a great game

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 8:34 PM EST reply actions

We’re playing relatively good defense right now.

by Rob on Jan 12, 2009 8:37 PM EST reply actions

if gody fouls out, we’re in trouble

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 8:39 PM EST reply actions

and by “in trouble” i mean, we’re done

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 8:40 PM EST reply actions

Don’t feel good about this game.

Questionable call on that rebound.

by Rob on Jan 12, 2009 8:41 PM EST reply actions

we need a big three.

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 8:42 PM EST reply actions

the ladybirds > the pom squad

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 8:48 PM EST reply actions

Have to have the last shot on this one. Cannot give them anytime.

by Rob on Jan 12, 2009 8:51 PM EST reply actions

the 2005-2006 season has scarred me for life. i have no confidence right now.

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 8:52 PM EST reply actions

hillesland needed to move outside as tory drove. his man stayed right there the whole time.

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 8:53 PM EST reply actions

Me too. No confidence.

What kind of end of the game play was that?

by Rob on Jan 12, 2009 8:54 PM EST reply actions

bilas has been calling it the flat screen, it’s the blowby play that kmac and tory use. but hillesland stood there so there was no kick available.

oof.

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 8:55 PM EST reply actions

Zeller’s in. Dear Lord.

by Rob on Jan 12, 2009 8:58 PM EST reply actions

We are falling apart in OT.

by Rob on Jan 12, 2009 8:59 PM EST reply actions

wrapping his arms around his waist is not a good foul

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 9:00 PM EST reply actions

we look exhausted.

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 9:00 PM EST reply actions

This is what happens when you play 5.5 guys every game.

Zeller is .25 of a player and Peoples is also .25 of a player.

by Rob on Jan 12, 2009 9:01 PM EST reply actions

good time out by brey, but this might be over. louisville is fired up. and unfortunately this is just the beginning of hell month

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 9:02 PM EST reply actions

It’s over.

Fuck. We had our chance. Blew it big time.

by Rob on Jan 12, 2009 9:05 PM EST reply actions

shooting two for l’ville now. this is just about over.

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 9:05 PM EST reply actions

we are ice cold

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 9:06 PM EST reply actions

problem is that we’ve got time to develop young guys. not in the big east.

by mhb on Jan 12, 2009 9:07 PM EST reply actions
