College Basketball Fans Unite and Praise the Heavens: Billy Packer Is Gone
More on Steve Orsini, Darrin Walls, where in the world I've been for the last week and a few minor changes being made to the site later in the day, but for now, we celebrate. . .
From ESPN.com:
Packer, a color commentator, will be replaced in CBS' coverage by studio analyst Clark Kellogg, according to media reports Monday.
Jim Nantz will continue in his Final Four play-by-play role.
Packer, 68, will leave CBS after 28 years to pursue "other projects in basketball," according to The Miami Herald.
It's not like Clark Kellogg is some sort of basketball genius, but it'll certain be better than Packer. I don't think I ever talked to a serious basketball fan that actually liked Packer, who has had mini-feuds and idiotic tangents every year since sports fans my age can even begin remembering "One Shining Moment." It's odd he is pursuing other projects in basketball when he doesn't even like it.
