Notre Dame Bowl Possibilities: Eternal Sadness Edition

I started writing this article 45 minutes ago.  Since then I've discovered that ND might not be in line to go any bowl if we finish 6-6 because NCAA regulations may state that a 6-6 team cannot take the spot of a team with a bowl tie-in.  I've also read that ND is in the pool with the Big East no matter what.  All in all, until I hear back from Notre Dame Sports Information, I have no idea what's going on.

This may clear things up

A summary of the Big east’s bowl situation. He says he talked to the Big East associate comissioner, so it should be correct.

The basic summary is, if Rutgers beats Louisville, and the Big East has 6 teams with 7 wins, Notre Dame can’t go to the Sun Bowl at 6-6.

Here you go

If Rutgers beats Louisville, we’re then looking at these options:

Hawaii Bowl, Emerald Bowl, Independence Bowl, or the Texas Bowl in Houston. The Texas Bowl is on the NFL Network, and most folks don’t have that channel, so that one is probably not a likely option. The Hawaii pays the least, plus with all the expenses to go over to Hawaii would basically be a loss in revenue for Notre Dame, so scratch that. The Independence Bowl in Shreveport is not the most desireable, which means, if everything goes according to plan, ND will be in the Emerald Bowl in San Francisco against an ACC Team (possibly Miami).
