Countdown to Happy Valley

A few links as the Rakes caravan gets ready to depart tomorrow for State College, PA...

~ Scoop Jackson apparently made a list of reasons why tennis is better than college football.  This isn't like a NBA/NHL or NFL/college football argument, where you can try to make sense of it, because I literally know no one who ever tried to compare the two sports.  Thankfully, Fire Joe Morgan took the time to destroy Scoop, so head on over and check that out.  Awful.

Also on Page 2 is their new list of rules for college football fans, which just makes me wish Page 2 would stop writing about college football.  Please.  And, of course, since Notre Dame is so irrelevant and everything, it's probably mentioned at least a half dozen times.  Snarky!

~ If you thought Michigan's response to the Appalachian State loss was entertaining, I'm really enjoying how the rest of the Big Ten is flipping out about it as well.  After a summer spent making fun of the Big East for having Thursday night games - when Thursday night games are awesome! - I think it's fun that the Big Ten is already faltering out of the gate.

~ Finally, SMQ's BlogPoll ballot is organized, well-thought out chaos of the highest order.  We finally have internet and cable at the houses, so this will be the last ballot I miss due to technical difficulties.

Rob and I now have tickets (I think?), awesome parking passes and a somewhat shady timetable of arrival and departure for the weekend in State College.  Barring some sort of alcohol or reading-based disaster, comprehensive Penn State preview by Friday morning at the latest.

God...
That Scoop Jackson article reeks of "please let me go on TV and talk for a little while!"  I read it earlier and was hoping someone would tear it apart...shoulda known that firejoemorgan would take care of it

Nice picture of Tony Hunt
One guy hanging on to his ankle. Another draped on his shoulders. And he's still moving forward for a four yard gain.

Tony Hunt...
...was probably one of the most underrated players of the last couple seasons, no?  Anyone who ever watched him talked about how he always got at least a yard or two more than any average back would on a carry.

...so I'm glad he's gone.
