Zach Frazer to transfer

Frazer, odd man out in QB race, to transfer from Notre Dame

Notre Dame quarterback Zach Frazer has been granted permission to seek a transfer and intends to leave the school, according to two people familiar with his plans.

Frazer plans to visit up to five schools as early as this week. Among the schools with mutual interest are Rutgers, UConn, Miami, Louisville and East Carolina.

Several MAC programs have also inquired about the strong-armed, 6-foot-5, 226 pound redshirt freshman.

Frazer was considered a blue-chip recruit after passing for 3,647 yards and 27 touchdowns as a junior at Mechanicsburg (Pa.).

Last week, Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis announced true freshman Jimmy Clausen, redshirt freshman Demetrius Jones and junior Evan Sharpley would compete for the starting position in the fall.

It will be interesting to see where Zach ends up.  I think he would fit in well at a Big East/ACC school like Rutgers, Maryland, or Duke (where former Irish quarterbacks coach Peter Vaas is now the offensive coordinator).  He seems to be a good kid with a big arm and we wish him well.
